Construction Accountant

Description

Thompson Thrift is seeking to hire a full-time Construction Accountant for our office in Terre Haute, IN. This role is responsible for accurate preparation, analysis, review, and processing of cash flow for assigned construction projects using accounting principles and in adherence with the Company’s quality, process, and business standards.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is the application of accounting principles in the timely and accurate completion of cash flow processing for assigned construction projects. Common duties in support of this responsibility include; 

• Collecting and processing subcontractor pay applications.
• Compilation of monthly billings for assigned projects (including all applicable backup documentation).
• Working closely with project teams from the beginning to end of projects to ensure receivables and payables are processed accurately and timely.
• Communicating with subcontractors and guiding them in adherence to Company accounting procedures.
• Providing feedback on procedures and processes.
• Making recommendations for changes or enhancements to solve problems or improve effectiveness of accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field of study.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• Organizational skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills. Mathematical skills. Oral and written communication skills.

Performing this job will sometimes require the employee to walk work sites that do not have infrastructure, this includes walking on uneven surfaces, through mud, through ruts, etc. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
